One word: convenience. The class is available online anytime. Use your desktop, phone or tablet. Complete it at home when you have a little free time. Your completion of the continuing education class is reported to the Barbers' Board within 24 hours of passing the class exam.
Every licensed barber professional must complete a continuing education course in alternating years. Failure to complete your continuing education prior to the end of your renewal cycle may result in your license becoming inactive such that you are not permitted to work.

Yes. You may take the 2-hour HIV/AIDS class for initial licensure here. This is the initial course for first time licensees or licensees from out-of-state seeking an endorsement license.

There’s no timer. Read and review the content at your own pace and convenience.
Relax. This is a “no fail” exam. The exam is open book. Feel free to review and double-check the course book as you take the exam. “No fail” means that you are free to take the exam as many times as you need to pass. The passing grade is 75%.
Your completion of the continuing education class is reported electronically to the state within 24 hours of passing the exam. Usually your license is sent to you by the state within 30 days after completing the class. Please note: students taking the 4-Hour Initial HIV/AIDS Course must print their certificate and mail it to the state with their license application.
After you pass the exam, the completion certificate is emailed to you in PDF format. You may also download the class completion certificate from your account page.

You should take the 2-hour initial licensure HIV/AIDS course. You may qualify for a Florida barber license by endorsement if you have an active barber license in another state or country whose requirements for licensure are comparable to or more stringent than Florida's requirements (1,200 educational hours and passage of a written examination). However, you must first complete the 2-hour initial licensure HIV/AIDS course and submit the certificate of completion with your endorsement application. Our 16-hour class is board approved continuing education for cosmetologists, facial specialists, full specialists, and nail technicians. We also offer the 2-Hour HIV/AIDS Continuing Education Course for hair braiders, hair wrappers, and body wrappers.
